Mikes sister, Cordelia, came to spend christmas and new years with us. It was great for all 3 of us to get to know each other better and spend some nice days together.
For christmas eve and two days following we stayed with Lenes dad and his wife, Conni.
They had prepared a big christmas dinner and a beautifully decorated tree stacked with gifts. Samuel got his gift from us before the dinner and he was quite content to discover a toy with a string attached to it. Oh joy!
What's inside, mum? Hurry and open it!
A new string. Now I have two strings. which one do I play with now? Oh, choices, choises.
Singing nice carols and christmas hymns.
Then Samuel was tucked in after an exciting day, and we all started on the gifts. Each in our own way!
Lene got Mike got a t-shirt where you can attach little items to the front. It's an idea Mike have been wanting to do for little kids, so they can walk around with their toys on the front. Since Mike don't really have toys he got a post-it and a pen to write down all his clever ideas, an image of an apple to symbolize his Mac, Samuels head cut out in felt and some other little things. It is definitly one of a kind!
For Cordelia, who builds boats, we wanted to make a little mascot. Or that is, Lene wanted to make a little mascot. Mike wanted a designer boat, with waves crashing around it, Cordelia waving with one hand on the wheel and fish jumping around the boat. This was the final result: Designed by Mike and created by Lene.
And for her dad, Lene had made a scrapbook over things she was grateful for. In order to live up to our ideal of a handmade christmas (we managed approximately 30%!) she had made the covers of the book herself too. She was quite content with the result, but have vowed never to do it again.
Cordelia had also decided to do a little handmade, and had made Samuel this awesome truck in cherry tree and teak. She made it herself and parts of it was made with a hammer and a chissel. Samuel enjoys putting his toys into the bed of the truck and getting them out again and into the bed and out again and into the bed and ...
On the 25th the missionaries came over and spent the day with us. They are such nice guys and we enjoyed their super company the entire day. The day after Mike, Cordelia and Samuel went on a little outing, while Lene stayed home to recover from a little stomach flu she was sharing with Samuel.
Apart from a few people being sick it was a great christmas and we are so grateful that we could spend it with Ulf and his family and for their hospitality.
