200th!

I am just realizing that this is the 200th post on this blog. I am not sure exactly what is expected of me on such an occasion?

Am I supposed to be giving gifts to you, the readers? Or - even more interesting from my point of view - should you, the lovely readers be giving me gifts? I guess you can all imagine which one I prefer.

I have a picture of Samuel waving a flag. That must count for something, right? ... Right?

Recently I was looking at the statistics of the blog, how many readers a day, from where and so on. And I realised that there are people looking at this blog that doesn't know our little family personally, as in family or friends of us. Fascinating - and slightly worrying!

So I was thinking that maybe I could celebrate the 200th post here with a load of random stuff about our family. Just so people get an idea of what they are dealing with. I guess you can call it a warning of sorts.

And since I don't know the proper etiquette of this blogging, and don't know what else to do, that is exactly what I am going to do right now.

Ready? Here goes.

Tiny one has already been the proud owner of two names so far; Tobias for a few days, and Joshua for a few weeks. He is now on his third name. I am keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that is the last one.

When I told my dad, who works as a deputy judge, that I had met Mike, that we were officially a couple and that he was planning to move to London, my dad advised me to make a prenup in case of a divorce. Gee dad. Thanks.

Apparently the English laws are not in favour of the wife in a divorce. Now you know that too.

My dad with Samuel

Later on in the same conversation when my dad asked what Mikes last name was, I told him it was "Brandt" (meaning burnt in Danish). My dad said "Oh, then he better get a new one". He thought that was an awesome joke.

Samuel loves everything with wheels, and I mean anything! The buggy, a stroller, cars, bicycles, his little scooter, his toy cars, tractors, airplanes.

We saw this tractor last week when we were at the forest. Samuel almost passed out with excitement.

I have a masters degree in law (no, seriously I do), but I am a professional stay-at-home-mum. Honestly the greatest job in the world. Not such a good pay, but awesome benefits.

Mike

Mike has a degree in graphic communications and unlike me, he actually uses his education - and he loves it!

Mike and me met on a Friday and decided we were a couple on the Saturday. Two weeks later I went down to Germany to spend the weekend with him. The day after my arrival we got engaged. I am never going to tell this story to my children for fear that they might follow our example. I mean, who does that kind of crazy stuff?

Yeah, and 4½ month later we were married.

Samuel was born 15 days past the duedate. I was beyond impatient, thank you for asking. 8 days earlier we had celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary.

Samuel and me

Tiny one was "only" 14 days past his duedate. He did, however, make up for that by coming out quite fast, and I did what I had sworn never to do, that is to say "I can't, I can't, I can't!" Fortunately I was wrong. He came out in 4 minutes!

Both kids were born with a hand on their cheek! I can't recommend that!

When I was pregnant with Samuel, some of my curls disappeared. When I was pregnant with Tiny one, the curls returned, but my allergy of apples disappeared. That was very fortunate as I craved apples when I had morning sickness.

I have a slight snail phobia. Mike doesn't like spiders.

Tiny one loves to be tickled under his chin, and strangely enough gets excited when you dress and undress him.

The last few days 50% of our conversation has been centered around the fact that a Danish restaurant, Noma, was just declared the best restaurant in the world.

Mike doesn't really care much for food, so I am a little puzzled by the interest in Noma. He could survive entirely on honey sandwiches without ever complaining. But since I love food, I am awfully content.

Mike very seldomly gets sick, but when he does, he believes that there is only one cure: Freshly squeezed orange juice. In his opinion it cures everything! I believe more in a nap, but I do like the taste of orange juice. Yum!

Samuel has a great love for anything dairy-related, and maybe love is even an understatement. Yoghurt, chocolatemilk, milk, butter, cream cheese, sour cream. He even got chocolatemilk and a can of sour cream for his birthday. He can easily eat 3 bowls of yoghurt, even though he just had breakfast.

Mike lost his driving license once, I just got mine a few months ago. I had 2 different teachers, drove 5 different cars and had more than 40 drivinghours. I failed my first driving test. I am not loosing it!

When the kids were born we got a whole load of pamphlets with information. My favorite is one with a chart of what color the babys poo is supposed to be the first few days. The colors range from dark green to a bright yellow. I am happy to inform, that the kids had the right color all the time.

My three favorite men

Samuel is very orderly. He hates getting sticky fingers and he is exceptionally good at cleaning up.

Today I gave tiny one a shower and while I was drying up tiny one at the changing station I heard some sounds of frustration in the hallway. It turned out that Samuel had gotten their bathtub and the little bathchair out of the shower and was now putting it back where it came from. Since the bathtub is pretty big he had some trouble manuevering it around.

Happy 200th blogpost!

Ps. Tiny one is happy, content and feverfree. Unfortunately the fever-bug got to both me and Mike. Mike already got two bags of oranges, and we had our first glass of juice!
