Macaroons

Today I had a less than wonderful day.

The ultimate low point occured at the library where I drove the buggy into a 1.80 meter high plexiglass pillar that fell to the ground and smashed into a few hundred small pieces. It was horrible! Samuel had a small meltdown and I comforted him, while the ever so nice librarian was crawling around on all fours picking up pieces of plexiglass.

Other points of the day includes a crying baby, not enough sleep, breaking a glass in the kitchen, glass pieces all over, a baby who didn't want to sleep, a mother who wanted to sleep, and the feeling that nothing was going my way.

Fortunately it is soon midnight and that means this day is almost over. I like that thought!

But I don't want to end this day feeling sorry for myself and being pathetic (which I spent plenty of time doing today). Instead let's talk about something nice. About something like these lovelies.

A little while ago my friend gave me these, yummy macaroons that she had picked up at a recent trip to Sweden.

There was 8 macaroons each with a different flavour. I think these ones were licorice, pistachio, vanilla and lemon.

They were tasty!

And beautiful looking.

But what I enjoyed the most was the fact that my friend had thought of me and wanted to get me something special. Wasn't that nice of her? I felt so honored.

Maybe it is not that bad to have a day like today when all comes down to it. Even though it will probably take more than a macaroon to get over the sound of that plexiglass pillar breaking.

This is the one with vanilla. Notice the little vanilla beans in there?

Maybe it will take two macaroons!

I hope you all had a better Monday than me!
