Saying goodbye to a house - but hello to an apartment

We've been looking at a house. A beautiful house. I am deeply, madly in love with it. The house has soul, there is love there, a beautiful garden, and the people that live there now are wonderful and charming. And fortunately, they will be the new neighbors.

I am sure you also want to move in now.

In my mind I've already packed all the moving boxes, I've painted the walls in our new house, I've planted roses by the kitchen windows and my greenhouse is under a beautiful willowtree. Obviously there are cucumbers growing in my greenhouse.

The kids are playing ball in the garden with our neighbors, my dad is taking a nap upstairs and my sister is just coming home from work. Mike sits by his computer finishing off a project, and my stepmother and two of her girls are sunbathing in the garden.

Unfortunately, this is all in my mind. In reality it is not going to happen.

In reality I live in an apartment on 5th floor (no, no lift) in downtown Copenhagen and my family isn't just around the corner.

It's taken me a while to come to terms with the fact that we're not buying the house, but I've more or less accepted it now. Even though my imaginary roses were very beautiful.

And so while we are not moving into a house, I've decided that we are moving into our apartment. Again.

You could call it a "mini move".

I am skipping the "putting things into boxes" part, but I am doing the "sorting through all our belongings" part and the "moving furnitures around" part. And I am definitly doing the "getting the stuff we need" part. It means I would have to go to Ikea.

Ahh yes!

I love moving and obviously I am very excited about the prospect of a "mini move".

So far my design team and I have moved the furnitures around in the living room. It took us a few attempts but we finally found the perfect solution. We just need a wider bookshelf.

Cue trip to Ikea.

Today, as the next step of our mini-move, I went through our bedroom/Magnus' bedroom/my crafting room for the "sorting through our belongings" part. Samuel and Magnus were there, and as much as I do love them, they are not quite as efficient as my designteam.

But they looked really cute though.

Anyhow, I am hoping that we, with a little bit of luck, a lot of help from my designteam, numerous visits to IKEA, one new chandelier and some creativity, will end up with an apartment where we love being, with room for all of us, all our belongings, our guests and all the many activities we do.

From Bloomingville, found at Sibra.dk

We will still be living on the 5th floor, but I am thinking when I am done with the minimove, I can look into having a lift installed. That can't be too complicated, right?

Right?

No?

Glæder mig allerede til housewarming og især til din nye elevator - you can do it!

Det var ærgerligt med huset, men så længe man ser så positivt på tingene, så kan det ikke gå helt galt:-)
