The ever so important preparations - playing with the pumpkins
Friday morning I loaded up Samuel and the stroller and went out to get a few essentials for the pumpkin party the following day. The essentials included 3 big pumpkins.
I had a child and a stroller with me and I live on 5th floor. I am still wondering why I thought it was a good idea to buy 3 pumpkins.
However somehow I managed to balance them, the stroller and a few bags of groceries all the way to the house. Mike kindly carried them upstairs for which I will be eternally grateful. Eternally!
We've never really done anything with pumpkins before, and for Samuel it was quite a novelty. When I got the first pumpkin at the store, Samuel claimed that it was a ball.
Close, honey, but not quite.
When we came home, the pumpkin were checked and he decided they were great to sit on, but not suitable as balls. Anything is more a less a novelty to Magnus, but he was still pretty unimpressed.
Mike carved a pumpkin that night, and we boiled the insides to use for cookies and cakes for the party. Because it wasn't enough I also baked one to make more pumpkin pure.
The house smelled divine, but at the same time I wondered whether it was a smart idea to bake a big pumpkin piece by piece in my small oven. All in all it took me 3 hours.
In addition to a lift to my apartment, for the days where I buy pumpkins, I also would like to have a bigger oven, please. Oh, and room for the bigger oven too.
If you are the proud and very fortunate owner of a big oven, then try it sometime. It is super easy to do and all the results were great!
Including the roasted pumpkin seeds we made. Some were with cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar and some with coriander, salt, and pepper. Highly recommendably and very tasty!
I could get used to this pumpkin stuff, even if it doesn't work well as a ball.
If anyone have great pumpkin recipes to share, please leave a comment. I need a reason to drag home more of those orange coloured wonders.
