Updates from Samuel

Samuel has fallen in love with two things.

One is watches. When Mike comes home from work, the first thing Samuel asks him is "can I have the watch". Or, actually he calls it "clock". He will then wear it the rest of the day and yes, sleep with it next to him.

It is pretty heartbreaking when Mike wants his watch back as he leaves for work.

I love asking him what time it is. The answers are always pretty creative, like "ten five two" or "half minutes". How can you not love that?

The other thing he really, really adores right now is a pair of socks with cars on.

Yes, sometimes he sleeps with them next to him as well. If he doesn't, then the first thing he will ask me in the morning is "Where are my sock cars?"

One morning I'd put them in the washing machine and so he couldn't wear them. He was fairly disappointed.

A while later he came with the wet socks in his hands. It took a little time to convince him to hang them on the drying rack and not wear them right away. Later on I went out to the kitchen to find the entire contents of washing machine on the floor.

Apparently he had opened up the machine when it was done, emptied it out on the floor to find his beloved socks. Now that is dedication.

However, it seems the fascination might be wearing off. Today he threw the socks up into the air and got really excited when they landed on the beams. And they stayed up there for a while without him getting hysterical.

When they are on the beams they are obviously not on his feet. And so maybe ... maybe he'll start wearing other socks soon.

Kids are strange! But awesome.

That is so funny! I love that he sleeps with the watch and socks. Kids are so fun! And strange as you say!
