Where does time fly ...

So many things have happened lately. Time seems to be flying by. I really do wonder how other people manage to live a life with family, friends, hobbies - and a full-tiime job.

It is all very puzzling to me.

* Lately we had the blessing for Magnus at church. We had a small gathering with family and a few friends at our house - although I cooked for twice the amount of people.

Our fridge was overflowing with food. It was actually quite shocking, and for a few days I was giving food away to everyone we met.

* I got a job. Today the Copenhagen County hired me to be the daycare mother for my own two children.

Really, they did!

They are paying me. Awesome, right?

Although I also have to pay to have my children in daycare. A little complicated, but I am not one to say no to a weekly playgroup, pay and free diapers.

Oh yes, the joys of motherhood ; )

* We harvested another cucumber and 3 tomatoes. We are still very far from any form of real self-sufficiency, but I keep telling myself it is a start. Next year I could try with a pumpkin plant behind the couch.

I am sure Mike won't mind. Who wouldn't love a pumpkin plant behind their couch?

* We visited an eksotic country (sounds better than a one day trip to Sweden). When I told Samuel we were going to a foreign country, he gave me his serious look and said "Ball with".

Maybe not the reaction he would give me 5 or 10 years from now, but of course, sweetie. We'll bring your ball.

We spend quite some time in a park in Malmø where he very much enjoyed his ball. I guess he just masters the art of knowing what to bring on a trip to a foreign country.

As Mike and I were getting ready for the trip, he asked how long we would be gone. Since we and the friends we were going with both had kids with us, I assumed it wouldn't be too long. Maybe just a few hours.

We were home past 9 pm.

* I visited the libray - without kids. I borrowed books for myself. I loved it. I quickly passed the childrens department looking for some CD's with music. Samuel loves to listen to music, and I need some variety.

While at the childrens department I noticed the sad remains of the tall plexiglass pillar I drove into and smashed the last time I was there. It looked so pathetic standing on a table.

It needs to stand on a table now, otherwise people would overlook it due to its smallness. And that smallness is due to me and my reckless buggy-driving.

It was probably a good idea that I was alone at the library - and without any buggy. I am not to be trusted with that buggy.

* I did another pilates class. My old instructor went on maternity leave. If you saw her you wouldn't think she was that far along. She is one of those women who is 38 weeks pregnant and looks like she just ate a really big lunch. When I was 38 weeks pregnant, I looked like I had eaten a really big lunch - and a football.

I am not sure I think it is fair.

Anyway the new instructor was lovely and sweet, and looks to be no more than 20, but she showed us no mercy. My stomach was still hurting two days later.

*Sigh* Bad shape. Me. Pain.

* We looked at a house. I love it. It is that simple.

Samuel ran around in the garden and played ball with the owner of the house. Magnus fell asleep in his buggy outside in the fresh air. I walked around on bare feet on the soft lawn, all the while the sun was shining down on us. It felt a little like heaven.

Mike love it too. Isn't that nice?

* Magnus, Samuel and me went to the mothersgroup.

The kids where sleeping so I thought about going on my own, leaving the sleeping kids at home with Mike.

Mike commented, that I couldn't go to the mothersgroup without my kids. Oh Mike, it is a mothers group. It is for mothers. The kids are there because we have to bring them.

In the end the two kids managed to be fresh and awake and we all went to the mothers group.

Two of the other mothers also brought their older kids, so Samuel spend several hours in the company of two boys his age, a serious amount of cars and airplanes and fresh baked rolls.

He nearly had a heart attack when I told him we had to leave.

* Samuel, my dotted boy, went to the dermatologist. And after two years we finally have a diagnose for all the spots on his body.

The good news are that it is not dangerous, it is not contagious, there is no treatment, and at one point it will totally disappear.

Yay!

The dermatologist - who I by the way absolutely adore and love, and I would almost (but only almost) wish I had to go there more often - gave Samuel a bright green plastic bracelet.

Samuel loves it. Today as we went shopping he was wearing it on his upper arm. Sometimes Magnus is also allowed to play with it. That is truly a sign of how much Samuel loves his brother.

I actually think Samuel would also love to visit the dermatologist more often. I actually noticed that he also had some bright yellow bracelets.

* We visited some friends of ours, Niels and Emma, who just had a little baby.

We just wanted to drop by, hand over the food (leftovers from the big blessing) and leave again.

When Mike asked me how long we would be away, I said we would just stay an hour or so. Parents of newborns are tired, they need rest and quiettime, I said. We will not overstay our welcome.

After handing over the food, admiring the little girl, and spending 1 hour and 15 minutes we packed all our stuff, the kids and us up. We got as far as the stairs when we realised it was raining.

And it wasn't just raining. It was "belting down" - quote Emma.

Since we hadn't brought any raincover for our now very wet buggy nor any rainjacket for our shorts-and-t-shirt-wearing-little-boy we decided to stay a little longer.

We ordered thai food for dinner. Magnus fell asleep in the little babys bed. Samuel managed to spill juice on their carped twice. I ran out of diapers and had to use a diaper for newborns on Magnus. I felt like a bad mother right there.

Once more we managed to get home at 9 in the evening.

It was really nice, eventhough I am certain we definitly overstayed our welcome.

We won't do it again. I promise.

* One day one of my friends came over to borrow my sowing machine and play with the kids.

When the kids were in bed, I laid down on the couch with a book in my hand and told her I was not moving. I was too tired to move.

With all the stuff that have been going on these last 5 days that really is no wonder.

So because of all the things we have done lately I certainly think we should all sleep in tomorrow to catch up on some much needed sleep.

I am totally for that, and I am pretty sure Mike is too. Now I just have to convince Mr. Magnus.
