More vacation ...

As mentioned in the last post, we just spent a week in a lovely summerhouse close by the beach. We loved it there, and we all miss it. Especially Samuel who can't seem to get used to being home in a big city living on the 5th floor. At the summerhouse we could just open the door and Samuel could run out into the garden. He is definitly an outdoor guy!

Mike also misses the beach. He went swimming at least once a day, and Samuel and him spent hours by the beach; playing with the sand, throwing stones into the water, crawling around on the big stones and looking at the little boats there.

As you can see on the pictures above, the sky was covered in clouds most of our stay in the summerhouse. And unfortunately a lot of those clouds were filled with rain. So we stayed indoor. The other played board games. I read part of the manual for my new camera (many hours of fun!) and Samuel and Mike looked out the window waiting for the rain to stop so they could go outside again and play ball or run around in the grass.

We did however have one really good afternoon. The weather was so good that Mike got Samuel dressed in his bathing shorts and then they went of to the beach for a little swim.

They came home a little while later with cold bums, wet feet and tons of sand. It hadn't been the biggest success since the water was still too cold for Samuel. But at least he tried it.

In the evening we all took turns cooking dinner. We had nice fresh salads and super summer foods. A few evenings the weather was so nice that we could eat outside.

This particular evening dinner had run a little late, so Anne got Samuel partly ready for bed while we finished eating. As you can see, he doesn't look too tired. However, all the fresh air did get to him and he slept very nicely!

That is the end of part I
