While we wait - for baby

4 years ago one of my best friends, Nathalie, got engaged.

I have a very clear image of her standing on the doorstep to our joint living room, discretely pointing to her new sparkly diamond ring. I think I lost the ability to speak for a moment!

After that moment passed we went into full wedding-planning-mode. Dress, veil, wedding rings, reception, dinner and honeymoon was discussed in tiny details.

I asked her how I could help with the wedding. "Don't do anything", was the reply. "You will get married before me, so you won't have time to help".

This reply was slightly startling as her wedding would be taking place 5 months later - and I had just dated my boyfriend for a week.

However, a week later I got engaged too and two weeks before her wedding day, Mike and me got married.

She is clever that way!

Last christmas I received an email from her. There was only one word in it: "Bingo!" Apparently that is the sound of a positive pregnancytest.

And now we are waiting for the baby. She is one week past her duedate and, having tried that twice myself, I feel for her.

I planned a wedding with her, well, actally we planned two, one for each. We've lived together twice, and were penpals for 1½ years. We've spent nights talking about everything and we've been through ups and downs, and so I feel very weird that I am not being there with her, looking at baby toys, clothes, bedlinnen, cute cute little shoes and discussing names all night long.

And while we are waiting for Nathalies baby to come out, another of our friends got engaged. One more big sparkly diamond ring. I love sparkly rings!

I got so exited I baked my newly engaged friend cupcakes, made a heartbanner (see the very top) and had I had the time I would have lost it in some sort of pink-heartshaped-frenzy.

Maybe it is a good thing, I didn't have the time.

I know Nathalie is in the very capable hands of her husband who will treat her and the little one so very good. And so I will relax - and know that the planeticket up there isn't that expensive. (I don't have any plans for next Friday?!)

And meanwhile I have a wedding to plan. Polkadots, you said?

Du er faktisk ret sød, Lene:-) Jeg er helt med på polkadots, men så skal de godt nok også matche til de der Martha Steward-blomster. Du er hermed min DIY-guru! (Stadigvæk:-))

Ps. Du er også ret sød, Hormonella-dame:-)
