The Zoo

The Zoo was a blast. And I am already planning my next visit there.

If nothing else then to expand on Samuels knowledge of the different animals.

Me: Look honey, a lama.
Samuel: Mooohhhh!
Me: Ahh, no.

When we passed the cows, there was no "moooing" from Samuel.

Magnus enjoyed himself, but in all honesty he enjoys most things. I like that!

We saw a few different animals, but the ones that made the biggest impact on Samuel seemed to be the elephants.

I think I could have left him there an hour or two. He wouldn't have noticed.

The elephant house is amazing, with a huge outdoor area, two big rooms on the inside for the elephants and a large exhibition area.

Samuel and his new best friend from daycare tried out some of the activities there.

He was pretty fascinated by this trunk made out of rubber - well, actually we both were.

Does it really feel like that? Funky.

After lunch the kids played on the playground while I put Magnus down for his nap. Or well, Samuel mostly threw around pebbles.

And by the way, his new "thing" - picking up small stones and putting them in the pocket of his jacket. It is sort of cute, until you accidentally empty his pockets on your livingroom floor.

With Magnus happily asleep we went to check out the goats.

Samuel was very interested in them. As long as they didn't get to close to them and he didn't have to touch them.

He preferred it like this. With a fence between the goats and him.

They were awfully fascinating though.

Once more I could have left him and he would have never noticed.

As we were leaving we saw the rhinos. We just had to take a closer look.

Those guys are huge!

A life size model of a rhino.

I wouldn't want to meet one of those alone in a dark alley at night. They are huge. And they looked pretty agressive.

The last thing we did before we left was to pass by the camels.

Me: Look sweetie, Camels.
Samuel: Moooohh!
Me: Huh?

What does a lama and a camel say? Maybe "Mooohh" could actually work.

We really have to go back there again soon.

Apart from the awesomeness of Zoo, I also thought about the awesomeness of being a stay-at-home-mum today.

Okay the pay is bad. But the fringe benefits are out of this world. I get to play with lego, sing songs, go to the park and visit the zoo and play with rubber trunks. And then there is this little boy ...

Days like today really should be bottled and kept close to your heart!
