Our little boy turned one
On the 10th Samuel turned one. Mike had a great dream of making him the perfect birthday cake. There were two requirements: It had to be homemade and it had to be round. Lene said: No problem. And Mike set about finding the perfect recipe for the birthday cake. After much searching he decided on the most famous cake in the world; the sacher torte!
Covering the cake with apricot jam becore adding the chocolate
We seriously underestimated the amount of time it would take us to make the cake so at midnight before the party we were assembling the cake with apricot glace and everything. We then discovered a page of the recipe we hadn't seen before - a page that included the words a slab of cold marble and a huge spatula. We own neither and apparently those two things were vital for making the fabulous chocolate-covering for the fabulous cake.
Slight panic! After much discussion we decided to melt the chocolate and add a little cream to it. After a few tests it finally worked out and the cake was finished, ready for our little boys birthday.
The finished product!
The menu was delicious tomatosoup with homemade bread
For dessert a lemon cream pie, cinnamon cake with cream cheese frosting and of course the sacher torte
Samuel had a great time with lots of nice company, nice gifts and nice food - even though he definitly didn't appreciate our sacher torte as much as he should!

Søde Lene,
Hvor jeg dog ked af, at jeg ikke kom. De kager ser simpelthen for lækre ud. Guf guf guf.
Jeg håber I havde en super dejlig dag og jeg glæder mig til at komme og besøge jer meget snart og give Samuel en lille gave eller 2.
